Buy & Charter ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website and services.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you access and use our services, we may collect the following:
- Assessment form data: When you complete a Tier 1 Assessment, we collect the information you provide, including budget preferences, boat type, location, boating experience level, purchase timeline, and charter expectations.
- Email address: Collected when you purchase a single assessment, subscribe to a monthly plan, use a promo code, or access subscriber services. Your email is used only to deliver your report, verify your subscription, and send service-related communications — not for marketing.
- Promo code usage: When you redeem a promo code, we record the combination of your email address and promo code to enforce single-use limits and prevent misuse.
- Subscription status: If you subscribe, we store your email address alongside your subscription status and billing period dates, sourced from our payment processor Stripe. No payment card data is stored on our servers.
- Email verification codes: When you access the service as a subscriber, we generate and temporarily store a one-time 6-digit verification code linked to your email. This code is used solely to confirm that you are the account holder and is deleted or invalidated after use or expiry.
- Session state: We use your browser's local storage to temporarily hold your assessment session so you can return to an in-progress report without re-entering payment details. This data remains on your device and is cleared when your session completes or expires.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate and deliver your personalised Tier 1 Assessment
- To process payments and manage your subscription through Stripe
- To verify your subscriber identity via email-based one-time codes before granting assessment access
- To enforce promo code single-use limits by tracking which email addresses have redeemed each code
- To send you service communications only — your assessment results, payment receipts, verification codes, and subscription notices. We do not send marketing emails.
- Only if you choose to opt in, to create anonymised market insights from your assessment data with all personal identifiers permanently removed
The anonymised-data option is entirely optional. Declining it has no effect on your assessment or your access.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in our database using industry-standard encryption and security measures. Payment information is processed exclusively by Stripe and is never stored on our servers. Email verification codes are short-lived, expire after use or a set time limit, and are not stored in a reusable form. We apply rate limiting to sensitive endpoints to protect against abuse.

Your Rights
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact us at privacy@buyandcharter.com to exercise these rights. We will respond within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.
